Since 2020, the Serena European SaaS Benchmark has evolved from a simple dataset into a way to read the underlying signals of an industry in constant reinvention. What began as a compass has become a tool to understand how SaaS companies build, adapt, and position themselves through cycles.

SaaS companies are under pressure as investors reassess growth without structural change, while AI-native businesses attract capital at unprecedented levels on the promise of category disruption. The analysis is based on crowdsourced declarative data from 800+ private SaaS companies across Europe, combined with a proprietary dataset of anonymized financial and operating metrics.
